ENGAGE had a chance to participate in the "Meet the Employers Event" held on 31st december 2014 organized collaboratively by National Disabled Federation Nepal (NFDN), My Right and Handicap International in Kathmandu. The event was an initiative for the employment opportunities for the people with disabilities in Nepal.

About 95% of people with disabilities are unemployed and are more dependable to other family members in order to sustain their day to day lives. It has become a key issue to work on strenthening and building the confident and personality of PWDs. I believe volunteerism plays an important role to enhance PWDs employability skills. It provides a platform where they  can prove the society their values  by claimining an active role in the society. Volunteerism  empowers them by creating a level playing field.  By volunteering a person can learn a lot, skills can be used later on at work. Volunteerism is the first step towards employability.
