Description
Following major cuts to Official Development Assistance (ODA), the role of aid and the future of development cooperation are under scrutiny. The current system seems to have reached its limits in both funding and credibility, with no clear replacement in sight.
Building on the FfD4 outcome document, as well as parallel discussions like ODI’s Donors in a Post-Aid World dialogue series, this event will explore propositional and practical paths towards a new paradigm for international development.
What are the critical priorities for a global system expected to achieve cooperation in a different era from the one in which it was conceived? Can we drive change strategically in line with a new vision for development cooperation rather than as knee jerk responses to concessional public finance cuts? And where might a coalition of champions willing to move this transformative agenda forward come from?
Join us for a discussion on how we move from ideas to actions for re-imagining development cooperation, including a proposed new independent high-level Commission on the Future of Development Cooperation.
