Official Bio of H.E.Ambassador Elisabeth von Capeller

Ambassador Elisabeth von Capeller was born in 1961 in Basel. In 1987 she obtained a master's degree in agricultural engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich.
In 1989 she joined the FDFA's Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Cameroon as “expert associé”.
From 1991-1999 she worked at a Swiss NGO. She returned to the SDC in 2000 where she worked as an equality officer and later as a deputy at the Conflict Prevention and Transformation Division from 2004 onwards.
In 2007 Ms von Capeller moved to the SDC cooperation office in Nepal where she was Head of Cooperation and Deputy Head of Mission from 2009.
In 2011 she was appointed Head of the South Asia Division, Head of Conflict and Human Rights. Mrs. von Capeller has been the SDC's Head of the department for Cooperation with Eastern Europe since December 2014.
