FAQs: World’s Largest Lesson Youth Advisory Panel 22/23

We hope this message finds you well. First and foremost, we want to express our gratitude for the overwhelming response we've received from our community. Your inquiries and enthusiasm for our programs are greatly appreciated.

We've received a substantial number of queries, and while we value each and every message, we regret that our current capacity makes it challenging to respond individually to all of them. To ensure transparency and provide answers to the most common questions, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions that should address many of your concerns:

Can only students aged (11-14) apply?

Our current application process is specifically designed for students aged 11-14 years old. While we understand that there may be younger or older students who are equally eager to be a part of the WLL Youth Advisory Panel, we do have age restrictions in place to ensure that the content and activities are appropriate and beneficial for participants within that age range.

We do, however, encourage you and your students to keep an eye on our social media channels and our newsletter for any future opportunities that may become available for their age group. We regularly share updates and information about our programs and other opportunities, and we are always exploring new ways to involve and engage students of all ages.

Can teachers participate?

Our primary focus for the Youth Advisory Panel is to provide a platform for students aged 11-14 to actively participate in discussions and decision-making processes, allowing them to shape their experiences and provide valuable insights.

If any of your students are accepted into the Youth Advisory Panel, we would be delighted to have you attend the sessions as a listener only.

Will the session be moderated only in English?

Currently, our sessions are conducted exclusively in English. This decision is primarily due to the limitations of our team size, as we are a relatively small team. Conducting sessions in multiple languages would require additional resources and support, which we hope to explore as we grow and expand in the future.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support. Please feel free to refer back to this email for answers to these common questions. Moreover, we encourage you to stay connected with us through our newsletter and social media channels for any updates or announcements regarding future developments in our programs.

WHO WE ARE

World’s Largest Lesson promotes use of the Sustainable Development Goals in learning so that children can contribute to a better future for all. We are a programme from Project Everyone. Meet our team!

WHAT WE DO

We produce creative tools for educators and action focussed learning experiences for children and young people that build skills and motivation to take action for the SDGs.

Each year we create campaigns and challenges to keep student learning engaging and relevant. We support these with local activations to make sure no one is left behind.

Our work is informed by our Transforming Education Survey Report, a survey asking 37,000 children and young people in 150+ countries what they think the purpose of education should be.

OUR MISSION

We believe that education is key to delivering the promise of the Goals, so our resources are free, open source and translated into over 30 languages.

We stand alongside partners including UNICEF and UNESCO to advocate for Education for Sustainable Development and encourage the widespread use of the Goals through formal education systems.

In 2023 we’re delighted to continue to work with NetApp as our Data Skills Partner. Our shared mission is to help students take action for the Goals using the power of data.

OUR IMPACT

We work with a diverse, global network that ranges from United Nations agencies to local youth networks so that everyone can take part.

Since 2015 we have helped bring the Global Goals to tens of millions of children in over 160 countries.
