Full Text Sharing

International Disabled day is marked on December 3 every year. 10% of the world population is suffering from disability. People with disabilities face stigma and discrimination in their communities and are frequently denied their basic rights such as food, education, employment and access to health services. This day specially marked for the disabled people.

It is celebrated all over the world. Disability Day, or the International Day of People with Disability, is a day that has been promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The aim of Disability Day is to encourage a better understanding of people affected by a disability, together with helping to make people more aware of the rights, dignity and welfare of disabled people, as well as raise awareness about the benefits of mixing disabled persons into every aspect of life, from economic, to political, to social and cultural.

The overall aim is to show non-disabled people that a person with a disability can be a lively member of society, as it happens that the entirely healthy are not always quite aware of this fact, which can lead to different kinds of discrimination of varying degrees of severity. The disabled people are very active and can do much more.

Everyone makes time from their busy schedule to celebrate this day as the International Disability Day. In Nepal, this day is celebrated by gathering the disabled people and having a peace walk, rally etc.
