BACKGROUND

The 9th World Water Forum is scheduled to take place in 2022 in Dakar, Senegal. The Ministerial Declaration of the 8th World Water Forum, entitled “An Urgent Call for Decisive Action on Water”, outlines the importance to ‘Promote the potential of the young generation as agents for change and innovation in the search for solutions for water and sanitation challenges’.

In view of this, World Water Forum “International Youth Steering Committee (IYSC)” which comprises Youth Delegates to the World Water Council and youth-led organisations has set itself the goal of collecting priorities, ideas and challenges related to the four thematic areas from youth and young professionals across the world. The inputs and priorities compiled by IYSC will be submitted to the youth steering committee of the 9th World Water Forum.

Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) of UNESCO has been one of the key players of the World Water Forum. In addition, youth being a centre of work of UNESCO has agreed to support IYSC in organization of satellites events for compiling the input for 2022, 9th World Water Forum.
