Keeping Things Pasted on Walls

Trying to keep my posters, basketball cards and assorted other hangings on the walls of my flat have become  an analogy for my life.  The humidity has caused me to try scotch tape, a sticky red tape, white hospital tape and super glue.  Some of my assorted oddities do stick but I find myself constantly smoothing out tape that is trying to come off of the walls.  Some posters completely fall of the walls and at this point I let the poster sit for a few days, before I try again to paste the poster back up.  Since I enjoy having lots of stuff on my walls, at this point I don’t want to give in to just letting things be.

This reminds me of my new job.  There are many issues, lots of opportunities and I try to make changes but if I’m not persistent, people go back to their old way.  I let this occur for a few days and then go back to the change.  Like the tape on my basketball cards which doesn’t always hold, on some mornings I find my cards on the floor of my room.  On most days I find myself wondering why things are the way they area.  I try to look at the issues from a number of different angles but still wonder why.

However, my recent trip to Kathmandu, has possibly provided some answers; double sticky tape and blue tack can seemingly defeat humidity.  The jury is still out, but at this point the posters, cards, photos are sticking to the walls.  I feel a renewed sense of energy to creatively make some changes to the way things are at my office.

For me this is about looking beyond the usual answers, keeping one’s eyes open, staying focused and seeing more than what is in front of you; really stretching one’s mind.    Things seem obvious but I know that they never are especially when dealing with another culture.  My response to issues is not that of others.

For now I’ll try the double sticky tape and blue tack to see if these really can make a difference.  If not I’ll continue to look for other solutions until my oddities and ideas stick.
